June

  • We made it back to Ohio yesterday afternoon, safe and sound
  • I called the nurse at the oncologist's office today to tell her about my hives
  • She said I did the right thing by not taking any more of the chemo pills
  • I'm still scheduled for my next CAT scans on Monday, June 6
  • We will meet with the oncologist on Thursday, June 9 to get the CAT scan results and see if these pills are shrinking my liver tumors
  • We'll also find out if that place on rib has grown
  • If so, it is probably cancer that has spread to my bone
  • Then the oncologist will decide how to procede with my treatment
  • Kathy will be coming to Ohio on Tuesday so she can go to see the oncologist with us
  • Here's a photo Jeff took of Tom and me just before we left for the airport on Wednesday
  9
  • This morning Tom, Marlene, Kathy, and I went to see the oncologis
  • Hear this good news: The pill is working!
  • My liver tumors are shrinking
  • The largest liver tumor in now half as large as it was for the last CAT scans
  • These CAT scans showed nothing on my rib
  • If that spot on my rib was cancer, it has also decreased in size to the point that it's not showing up
  • I will be continuing with the pill and have more CAT scans in six weeks
  • I don't even have to go back for weekly blood work anymore since my blood test results have been so good
  • I start back on the pill tomorrow
  • The doc gave me a prescription for a steroid to help with the hives if I get them again
  • For these last CAT scans I had to drink a "Berry Smoothie" (barium sulfate)\
  • I would not want any living creature to have to drink that stuff
  • It's so bad that the oncologist won't even taste it to see what it's like
  • I have to drink it again for the next CAT scans because it allows them to see everything better
  • Maybe in six weeks I'll forget about how bad it tasted
  • Meanwhile, my hair is growing back
  • Every day it looks a different color, from blonde to brunette to redhead
  • Madi said the other day it was blue!
  • Today it's strawberry blonde

  • I'm feeling much better these days
  • No more hives, I have more energy, and I'm not scaling like a snake anymore
  • Tom and I are going to outdoor concerts again
  • I can very easily learn to like this!
  • My body is adjusting to the PILL and hopefully the pill will keep shrinking the tumors
  • Just keep your prayers coming because I need all of them and I need you, too
