March

3
  • I went for the double dose of chemo today
  • It went easier than the single dose of chemo usually does
  • I guess that's because I told my body I wasn't putting up with any of those side effects from this double dose
  • I go for CAT scans next Tuesday, March 8
  8
  • I had my CAT scans this morning and will meet with the oncologist to discuss the results on the 17th
  • It wasn't a very pleasant experience because they had a very hard time finding a vein
  • Even though I've been drinking a lot of water, I'm still a little dehydrated
  • I survived, though, and I'm looking forward to the results
  • I'm moving right along and preparing for Springtime here - Spring cleaning is underway
  • When I touch my mostly bald head, I don't know if it is dust or hair follicles!
  10
  • Tom and I picked up my CAT scan results today
  • The good news is that the tumors are not growing
  • It would have been great if they had gotten smaller again, but not growing is something to be happy about!
  • We'll discuss everything with the oncologist next Thursday
  • Kathy is coming home on Tuesday, the 15th, and will go to that appointment with us

Message from Kathy:

  • Sorry I haven't been updating this site as often as usual
  • My husband and I just moved to Georgia and at times in the past few weeks I didn't know what day it was, let alone where my computer was!
  • Things should be getting back to normal now - thanks for your patience, and thanks for caring so much about my Mom
14
  • I'm on my 4th day of "walkin and talkin"
  • It's great to be able to feel like a human just for a few days before the next dose of chemo
  • I will have a chemo treatment this Thursday, after my appointment with the oncologist
  • We're looking forward to Kathy's arrival tomorrow afternoon
  • Look how I have my arms full!
  • From the left, this is Evie, Madi, Peyton, Lena, and Audrey - three generations

  • My day at the oncologist wasn't as frightening as I thought it might be
  • Tom, Kathy, and my sister Marlene were with me, so the oncologist wasn't too hard on me :-)
  • The tumors did not shrink but did not grow either
  • The oncologist was still very encouraged about how my treatments are going
  • My blood was back to normal so I took my 9th chemo treatment this morning
  • Four out of the nine treatments have been a double dose of chemo drugs
  • This one was a single chemo drug
  • I'll have my 5th double treatment next week
  • We have no idea how many more treatments I'll need
  • I'll have more CAT scans after two more chemo cycles, in about five weeks
  20
  • I have been down and out for the last two days
  • Friday evening the chemo effected my intestines and I just knew my baby would be due any minute, I was so swollen
  • Yesterday it was my gallbladder's turn
  • Swelling under my ribcage made it impossible for me to get myself up out of a chair or the bed without Tom's help
  • Today, Sunday, I can help myself up, even though there still is swelling in my ribcage
  • Mr. Chemo better straighten up if he wants to me to be his friend!

  • I had my double dose of chemo two days ago
  • I wish I had something positive to say about it, but this was the worse treatment yet
  • I really didn't know if I would come out of it but I'm stronger this afternoon
  • I haven't had much food since Thursday but Tom keeps finding ways to keep me nourished
  • What would I do without Doc Tom??
  28
  • I'm out of pain today - hooray!
  • I'm walking on my own and regaining my strength
  • But if I ran a race with a snail, the snail would win!
  • Tomorrow I hope to see my great grandchildren
